Nationwide, over 2 million defaulted properties are advertised by local county governments.
The properties are tax defaulted which means the property owner did not want the property and has failed to pay the mandated property taxes.

The local county has bills to pay; that’s why we have property taxes. Property taxes pay the school teachers, firefighters, police and sheriff’s department, plus property taxes fix the roads and provide money to keep the hospitals open.
