Tax-defaulted property, also called tax deeds, is not difficult either. It’s available in all 3,000+ counties. The local county must collect property tax to pay the county’s bills, and you can expect the county treasurer to be active and diligent when property owners fail to pay taxes.
Defaulted taxes become a lien. The treasurer files a default notice, puts the property in default, and ultimately confiscates the property to resell at a tax defaulted property auction.
The key to the tax-defaulted business is to purchase at a bargain price at the auction and then resell the property for a profit.
Starting bids are very close to the back taxes, as low as 10-20 cents on the dollar, and the highest bidder wins the property which will be free of any mortgage or deed of trust loan.
