I’m Ted Thomas and I’ve had a successful home business for more than 30 years. Well I’m here to tell you it’s not going to be a piece of cake, it’s going to take a person with determination and focus to start a successful home business. I see a lot of people claim that it’s easy. But I’m not going to sugarcoat it, I’m going to tell you what it’s really like.

Now, I know lots of people who worked 40 hours a week at their regular job and then become an entrepreneur or a freelancer and now suddenly they’re working 60 hours a week. So, 60 hours is a third more than you’re already working so don’t just quit that job indiscriminately.
Make sure that you’re already going to be able to make money. Now if you want freedom, you don’t want a boss, you want fame, whatever it is, you’ll want to be in your own successful home business.
I’m not going to give you a long list of 101 tips to be in business. I’m just going to get right down to the nitty-gritty and tell you how to start your successful home business. The do’s and don’ts and the pros and cons.

What I Learned About Starting a Business
I’m going to get right to it and tell you a lot of practical information which I learned from 30 years in business. Number one priority in the business is you’re going to have to make revenue. Number two is to learn sales and marketing. You don’t need a business plan of 100 pages, you don’t need to talk about branding, you don’t need a bunch of bullets to go through and what kind of chair you’re going to buy, or know what your office is going to look like.
The Small Business Administration which is a division of the United States government says that 80% of all startups will fail in the first five years. What about the surviving twenty percent? Another 80% of them will fail in the next five years. Why did they fail? Well, just ask the Small Business Administration. They will tell you the new businesses can’t sustain revenue, and they don’t understand marketing and sales.
A Successful Home Business Idea With a Proven Record
30 years ago, I was fortunate. I discovered a little-known business that is a subset of the real estate business. This is a subset where the property owners don’t pay their property tax, and that’s a big problem. Not for you and me but for the county who has bills to pay, and all the revenue that that comes into the county comes first through property taxes.
So if they can’t collect property tax, how are they going to pay the county employees, or the school teachers? How are they going to fix the roads or pay the firefighters? Well they won’t be able to do any of that if they don’t get revenue. So what do they have to do?
Well the property goes into default so the county’s going to do something very quickly and they’re going to be very abrupt about it. They’re going to take those properties and they’re going to confiscate them and resell them back into the marketplace. The county doesn’t want the property so what they do is they discount 60, 70, 80%. They also cancel the mortgage. So ask yourself if you could sell it and make a profit.

This is a business that’s very sustainable, it’s been around for 200 years and there’s lots of abundance. There’s a couple of things you might want to know about.
